In the spirit of blossoming love in my life I am posting 2 of my favorite poems written for my dear sweet

BOB,  he has swept me off my feet and our love blossoms every day!

Isn't he sweet? He'll probably flip whenever he sees this post!

                A Blossom

Softly tenderly a sprout began to grow
Yet it wasn't water it needed you know...
Starved for someone to listen to craving
Love the little tulip hibernates no more
No longer fear which blocked the sunlight...
She shines and basks in unparalleled glory
The greatest, purest wholesome story
In days of old to be told, as we hug and hold
Each other close into the night each breath,
Each loving kiss and caress surpassed
The fear and pain, how quickly you've unmasked
The woman who hid deeply wounded and lost wails
Are rejuvenated with moments purely white pale
Blankets of snowflakes, shields of butterflies
Dancing, fluttering, and truly as I doth now surmise
The deepness and conviction I saw within your eyes
I can't help wonder and leap forward, hopeful a surprise
A dream unfulfilled attained, my soul ignited passionately enflamed
So diligent we play the dance of love again, but not the same
Of lost failures, too old, unwanted to behold
We've sparked the embers of our hearts, await our story told -
I have no doubt much joy that we will share
And my dear sweet, my love for thee is here.
Cherish me, honor me, want me an love me
I in turn open my arms and will for eternity
Be linked to your inner circle of blossoming love
Like olden times we sing our love, hopefully doves
Sing a true and binding love song two people
Not weak, nor wandering or empty feeble
Steps of the past, rejuvenated power of love
To thee I send, I pray 'tis blessed above.
And so my amor, te amo, falling in love can be
A beautiful journey I shall explore with thee.

Poems My Way Valrie 04/10/2010

LOVE doesn't take your breath away,

LOVE makes you want to breathe the breath of who you are with...

These are especially true when you know you are in love you just do...

           LOVE

LOVE is friendship on fire.
LOVE doesn't take your breath away,
LOVE makes you want to breathe the breath of who you are with...
LOVE ignites the burning desire deep within one's soul.
LOVE makes you feel alive, no longer alone inside.
LOVE brings joy to everyday things and makes everything okay.
LOVE melts away the brick wall you enclosed yourself within...
LOVE kindles a friendship into something everlasting.
LOVE surrounds you with a glow.
LOVE, true LOVE lasts forever,
LOVE when set free returns to me.
LOVE puzzles you when you try to define it.
LOVE doesn't just happen, like a flower it blooms.
LOVE seems a dream to me; to be in LOVE
LOVE must be felt, shared and nourished.
LOVE is more than words can share.
LOVE and trust go hand in heart.
LOVE eternal, is it ever meant to be mine?

WOW! Such a busy week! Whales Bay Poem!

WOW! What a week last week. I have been writing poems and short articles and even working on an instructional strategies book for teaching reading. My new found source of inspiration is Glimmerglass Lake State Park and the marvelous lake (Otsego, NY) that glistens day and night. Next time I go to Glimmerglass Lake I will be sure to have my camera in tow! I feel a poem growing!

I have been connecting with many new websites and poetry forums. The newest are http://poetrydances.ning.com/ and http://poetswhoblog.blogspot.com/. Additionally, I had my first article published! It is a first hand narrative and was  published over at Associated Content, Places to Take First Date (Cooperstown, NY). ot of fun to write. Type in contributor name Valrie Verhoeven! Many thanks goes out to TESS at (The Heart of Words) as she is the blogger and friend who/where I discovered Associated Content!

Writing to prompts or first line poems is something I have used as a writing strategy for my students. Last week I responded to this one: "The ice is melting on the bay,"

This and other great whales can be viewed here!

          Whales Bay

The ice is melting on the bay,
Flooding roaring throughout the day.
Sea gulls calling soaring low
As chunks of ice no longer slow
Force through the glacier barrier
An old man at sea the warrier.
Steamships plod and break the ice
Removing all that's within sight.
Vacationers come, the whales return
And from this, we now adjourn.

Easter Praise
To Christ I owe my life, He died so I may live
And so my heart is filled with love to give.
Each day I breathe, I know He carries the weight of my sins
How such forgiveness is offered and a chance to begin
Again, fresh and new cleansed by the blood of Christ!
To Him I talk and walk throughout my daily life.
He is always with me in good times and in strife.
The garden of love blooms eternally for those who enter within
There are no contests, no battles, washed free of your sin.
On Easter morn' when the sun rises and casts the softened hues
Pink, violet, and crimson tones, in your heart know that Christ has died for YOU!
I offer up my poem of thanks and feeled blessed by God's grace
Because I know Him and His son, the world is a better place.

MAY DAY SWAP EVENT!

I am sponsoring a MAY DAY SWAP EVENT. May day has always had special significance for me as the real first sign that Spring is here to stay. All through my childhood I have fond memories of collecting wildflowers for one of my neighbors every May Day, making them into a boquet and taking them to her house. Her face would light up like an angel each year and she'd invite us in for cookies. Jesse, I know you are up in HEAVEN smiling now as I dedicate this swap event in your memory.

The theme of the swap is FLOWERS! This event is open world-wide so be sure to let me know if you will ship internationally so I pair partners up accordingly! You may create any form of art as long as you incorporate flowers into it. When you receive your swap partner's email and address please send her/him an email of getting to know you information. For example: favorite flower, color, and a brief biological history of who you are and your blog address. PLEASE CC your EMAIL to me so I KNOW you have connected with your partner. If for any reason you become unable to do the swap, let me know so I can arrange to have a new partner for your partner. I will be creating a FLICKR GROUP to post your pictures. You may join the swap beginning today and registration closes on April 11th, 2010. Please email me your contact data, email address, blog address and name, your mailing address and phone number by April 11th. Packages should be mailed no later than April 30th, to be in time for MAY DAY! Please get a tracking number for your package as we all have had things lost in the mail. This should be fun and stress free and inexpensive! I suggest limiting your expenses to under $20.00 and a flat rate mailing package always helps keep shipping costs down for larger packages. You may create a link to my MAY DAY swap and grab the FTD tulip picture as button/url...http://poemsmyway-valrie.blogspot.com/2010/04/may-day-swap-event.html and post it to your blog! PLEASE!!!  It's such fun and you will make many new friends, just imagine the bouquet of friends just waiting to be gathered! How many is up to you!

                                                              May Day Swap

Tulips are my favorite flower! I am looking forward to a HUGE BOUQUET of MAY DAY SWAPPERS! Have a wonderful Good Friday! And be sure to visit tomorrow for PINK SATURDAY!

My Sister My Sunshine My Best Friend

Vanessa means butterfly and she is truly a beautiful one!
Just when I thought my world was coming undone,
She rescued me and breathed life into my floundering soul.
She gave me back confidence and hope that someone else stole.
A sister you would be honored to have to cherish and love.
Certainly Heaven sent me her as sure as there are doves.
You don't get to choose your sisters in life, but friends we do
And as my best friend there is noone truer than you.
You are the sunshine that warms my heart and heals my mind,
In your brilliant rays you shower me with love so kind,
Gentle and unconditional, knowing no limits -
We commune as kindred spirits.
So Vanessa, my SUNSHINE I honor you with this award
Thank you for always being there for me, God will reward
The kindness, the love, the giving person that you are -
For Vanessa you are one of His brightest stars.
You are humble, loving, generous, caring, compassionate too,
Vanessa the world is a better place because of all you do.
