Troubled Waters Poem for the day!

This has been a very long day and I have been working so hard on revisions to resumes, CV,applications, etc. that I knew my sanctuary of my blogspot would bring me peace and happiness. I love coming to my blog and posting my new poetry. It is wonderful to be able to write poems again. Sometimes I go  through real dry spells, not necessarily writer's block, just emptiness if you know what I mean... and then the floodgates open and the poetry flows like a river runs through a gorge after a tempestuous storm.

So here's my addition for today:

Troubled Waters
The river flows with tempestuous speed
As the storm ceases not, tears drowning
In the sorrow of what once was
But not to be any longer...
An island in the stormy sea.
What sanctuary is there to find
Among forlon hopes and lost dreams?
Rise above the banks of flooded shores
And seek safe haven in what grounds me
I am told, no longer to explore
The winding road called love.
'Tis for the best, as many a day was lost
Along the path taken, in err to my best memories.
Is it "better to have loved and lost?"
Or if you will, "than never to have loved at all?"
The twirling waters do not lie still for me;
I too often revisit the journeys past...
No more, the past no longer matters;
It is to the bright future I place my sight.
Clearer waters than those of salty tears
Of which I'd grown accustomed.
Deep hues of sea blue green and tropical
Paradise I see before my eyes, the flower
Of love, perennial, eternal, I am not sure...
The bridge is before me, I only need to
Find the courage to take the leap over
Missing planks and not fall perilously
Into the traps of years gone by.
Troubled waters rise but they will subside.
